But has the American technology giant succeeded in achieving this goal?

The iPhone 14, despite being a great phone, did not have a significant improvement in terms of hardware compared to the iPhone 13, but Apple has tried to compensate for this with the iPhone 15 and improve the key parts of this phone compared to before.

Undoubtedly, the most important new feature of the iPhone 15 is its 48-megapixel main camera, which records images and videos with better quality. The iPhone 15 also uses the A16 chip, which was first used in the Pro and Pro Max versions of the iPhone 14. Other new features of iPhone 15 include faster RAM and design similar to the Pro series. In this article, we will compare this phone and iPhone 14.

Designing

It’s been a few years since Apple hasn’t made any major changes to the appearance of its phones, and this includes the iPhone 15. The most important difference in the appearance of this phone with the iPhone 14 is the dynamic island hole that Apple unveiled in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro phones. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 uses the old notch hole. iPhone 15 also has a USB-C port, which we will talk more about later.

Other features of the iPhone 15 include its matte back panel and curved aluminum frame. Apple claims that the back panel of this phone has a higher resistance than the iPhone 14 and the phone itself is highly resistant to water and dust by receiving the IP68 standard. These two phones are not significantly different from each other in terms of dimensions, and the new Apple product is only slightly lighter and smaller.

Apple has launched iPhone 15 in five colors: black, green, yellow, pink and blue. Also, the unboxing of this phone is a little different than the iPhone 14 because Apple sells this phone with a USB-C cable.

Display

Even now, the iPhone 14 display performs better than many new phones, and its old panel offers excellent brightness, contrast, and color accuracy. The iPhone 15 display also improves on this excellent performance by offering 1,600 nits HDR brightness and 2,000 nits in sunlight (2x the iPhone 14). Therefore, the quality of iPhone 15 images in HDR mode is much better and viewing its images in bright environments is easier than iPhone 14. However, unlike many Android phones, the iPhone 15 lacks a high refresh rate feature.

The refresh rate of the iPhone 15 screen is the same as the iPhone 14 at 60 Hz. Undoubtedly, this is the most disappointing point about Apple’s new flagship. Even a 90Hz refresh rate (the Pro versions of the iPhone 15 support a 120Hz refresh rate) would have been a welcome improvement for this phone, but unfortunately Apple believes that this will narrow the gap between the non-Pro and Pro versions.

In addition to the refresh rate, the more powerful cameras of the Pro versions are also another reason that discourages users from buying the basic and Plus versions of the iPhone 15 and encourages them to buy more expensive models.

Performance and operating system

Last year, Apple used the same chip as the iPhone 13 series in the iPhone 14, and this caused a lot of noise. Now, this company has once again used the same approach in iPhone 15 and equipped this phone with the A16 chip of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. In general, this chip has a slight improvement compared to the model used in iPhone 14, and its processing and graphic power as well as its energy consumption are slightly better than A15.

Unlike Apple’s previous flagship, the iPhone 15 supports all the functions and exclusive features of Dynamic Island and uses this hole to display information such as a timer, the remaining time until the order arrives, and other things. This phone also provides users with the possibility of requesting roadside assistance through satellite communication for free for 2 years. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 uses satellite communication only to send emergency messages.

The iPhone 15 is supposed to be released with iOS 17, but the iPhone 14 will also receive this operating system through an update. iOS 17 includes extensive changes and thanks to the improvement of FaceTime and Messenger applications, it has made communication with others easier than before. This operating system also includes new features and applications.

Camera

The iPhone 14 has a 12-megapixel main camera that performs well, but the iPhone 15 uses a new 48-megapixel camera that captures very high detail. However, this camera in default mode records images with 24 megapixel quality to create a good balance between quality and volume of images.

Although the basic version of the iPhone phones does not have a telephoto camera, the high quality of the iPhone 15 camera allows this phone to record images similar to telephoto cameras with its 2x zoom. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 uses digital zoom, and for that reason, the quality of its zoomed images is not very interesting, although Apple improves the quality of these images with software techniques.

Apple has also improved the detail and color accuracy of the iPhone 15’s night images, and the HDR mode of this phone creates a good balance between dark and light environments in the images.

Voice

iPhones are known for having some of the best speakers out there, and the same applies to the iPhone 14. Although Apple has not announced the details of the speaker quality of the iPhone 15, it is expected that this phone will also receive an excellent score in this section.

Battery life and charging

Before the official introduction of the iPhone 15, there were speculations about the use of a larger battery than the iPhone 14, but apparently these rumors were not true. Like the iPhone 14, this phone is expected to last up to a day on a full charge. Of course, the battery life of this phone may reach more than one day in some situations.

As mentioned before, the iPhone 15 uses a USB-C port unlike the iPhone 14, but despite this, the charging speed of these two phones is not different from each other. Hence, iPhone 15 will support 20W wireless and 15W wireless charging.
